ABSTRACT

In Capillaria pterophylli two large pseudocoelomocytes, localised at the end of the stichosome, are embedded in an extracellular matrix of connective tissue elements. The cytoplasm contains abundant cisternae of rough endoplasmic reticulum filled with amorphous material, Golgi complexes with electron-dense material, vesicles, and few mitochondria. At the periphery, among the cytoplasmic processes, there are more or less waved lamella-like connective tissue fibres. The possibility, that these fibres are of elastin type, is discussed.
