W. Stefanski Institute of Parasitology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Twarda 51/55, 00-818 Warszawa and Department of Antarctic Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Ustrzycka 10, 02-141 Warszawa; Poland

Acanthellae and cystacanths of four acanthocephalan species, Aspersentis megarhynchus (Linstow, 1892), Corynosoma hamanni (Linstow, 1892), C. pseudohamanni Zdzitowiecki, 1984 and C. bullosum (Linstow, 1892), were found in demersal amphipods caught in Admiralty Bay (the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica). Parasites have been collected from eight host species of 12 examined, namely Bovallia gigantea, Prostebbingia brevicornis, Gondogeneia antarctica, Cheirimedon femoratus, Hippomedon kergueleni, Orchomenella rotundifrons, Waldeckia obesa and Jassa ingens. Acanthocephala were not found in Eurymera monticulosa, Abyssorchomene plebs, Methalimedon nordenskjoeldi and Heterophoxus videns. All four acanthocephalan species are briefly described and figured.
